Teachers - High School Science, CTS
I grew up in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and completed a Biomedical Science degree at the University of Guelph. I have been very fortunate in finding jobs that have allowed me to work, live and travel in many parts of Canada, while getting me outside in nature as much as possible. I worked for many years as a Forest Firefighter based in Ontario, but also was a tree planter in BC, Backcountry Ranger in Ontario, Highway construction worker in Northern BC and a lifeguard. I completed my BEd degree at Nippissing University in North Bay, Ontario, and moved directly to Paulatuk, NT to begin my career as an educator. It was a very valuable experience, and it is where I began to develop a love for the North. I made the move to Yellowknife in 2013 and taught at Range Lake North for the next 6 years in middle school and grade 4/5. Since moving to Yellowknife I have married my wife, Kate, added a dog and 2 kids to our family and have developed a love for the people and community we live in. We have enjoyed exploring the land in the Yellowknife area over the years and look forward to continue to strengthen our connection to the north. I have a passion for anything that gets me outdoors in nature, travelling to experience new places and cultures, learning new things and spending time with my family. I am very excited to be a part of the community at K'alemi Dene School, teaching Science to the highschool and Phys Ed to all grade levels.
