Parents/caregivers invited to learn about online safety

To all YK1 families: The RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit has partnered with The White Hatter company to provide NWT parents and caregivers with the opportunity to participate in two webinars in early June. The White Hatter company is an internet safety and digital literacy education specialist company based out of Victoria, British Columbia. Police continue to see an increase in internet child exploitation offences across the territory. In response to this growing number of complaints, the ICE unit wants to provide this education to parents and caregivers to help equip them with knowledge and skills to pass on to their children. These webinars are free for participants and include a live Q&A portion after the presentation.

  • WEBINAR 1: Online Sexual Predation and Exploitation: What is the Threat, and What Can Caregivers Do to Help Minimize the Risks? June 2, 7:00 to 8:45 p.m.
  • WEBINAR 2: Social Media Safety and Digital Literacy for Parents. June 3, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

These webinars are available through links and passwords. Click here to receive registration links, and click here to learn more about these webinars.
